Setting Up Canvassers for the Mobile App

Overview

The PDI Connect mobile app makes door-to-door canvassing simple and efficient for canvassers of all experience levels and technical skills. The app was designed specifically for door-to-door canvassing and has been continuously refined over the years to enhance its functionality.

Getting the App
The PDI Connect mobile app is free and available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Canvassers can go directly to their device app store and search for the PDI Connect App. It should take around a minute to download.

An easier option for onboarding canvassers to the PDI Connect App is using a link or QR Code provided by the PDI Platform. From the Door to Door Canvassing Project Management page, click on the Onboarding Link & QR Code button.

From this page, canvass organizers have several options for guiding volunteers through the onboarding process. The Download App Only options let the organizer copy and paste a QR Code to a printable document for scanning or a link to distribute via email or text message.  

Once clicked or scanned on their smartphone device, the volunteer will be directed to the PDI Connect page in the App store for downloading.

It is important to note that downloading the app alone will not enable volunteers to start canvassing. They  must first exist in the organization’s Volunteer Management database with a name, email address, and password in order to successfully log in to the PDI Connect mobile app. 

This can be done in two ways:

  1. Manually by your organization’s staff on the Volunteer Management page.

  1. Using the new self register feature in the app.

                                                     

This page can only be accessed by invitation using a QR Code, URL Link or special campaign code which identifies your organization as the host for the registration process.  Without this invitation process, the app would not know with which organization the canvasser is affiliated.

To get the campaign’s unique Onboarding Link, QR Code, or Code, click on the Onboarding Link & QR Code button from the Door to Door Canvassing Project Management page.

 

            

Once the form is completed and the canvasser clicks the Click to Register button, their data will be entered in the Volunteer Management page and they will be able to successfully log in to the PDI Connect mobile app for your organization.

                                                         

If the canvasser already has a login email and password, they should click on the Go To Login page to access the app.
